Food Fight in Bunol, Spain

Travel to Bunol, Spain for the La Tomatina festival. Over 30,000 tourists travel each year to Bunol to participate in the World’s largest Tomato food fight. One hundred metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes are thrown in the streets!
The festivities can only begin when someone is able to climp to the top of the cockaigne pole (a large, greased pole) and retrieve the ham that is placed on top. The signal for the beginning of the fight is firing of water cannons, and the chaos begins and then it is every man and woman for themselves!
The festival attire is simple: COME DRESSED TO WEAR TOMATOES!! Grab those red ripe tomatoes and throw them at anyone that runs, moves, stands stills, bends down, or turns around, laughs, or gives you a questionable look. This fight only has a few rules: You may ONLY use tomatoes, and you are to squish them before throwing them. Bottles, water bombs and the like are forbidden as it is to rip other’s clothes. No worries though, the crowd tends to ignore this last rule and men and women are left running topless throught the streets.
