The Future

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Dear Friends of FGA:

2007 was an amazing year for FGA. Our teams were a universal success from securing a place in Oregon’s racing history …

…to race rallying 3,000 miles across America …

… to climbing the World’s Tallest Peaks.

From knocking elbows with the greatest Poker Players in Vegas …

… to holding our breath while hoping to catch a glimpse of “Nessie”, the first lady of Scotland. Along the way we were also able to help others with each of our events. What a year!

Now the big question. What does 2008 hold for our FGA teams? After a lot of thought and discussion I’ve decided FGA is going to take some time to re-group in 2008. While we might return to these and other adventures in the future, in 2008 we have decided to focus on some very unique (and “to be announced”) business, web, and philanthropic ideas designed to reach out to other parts of the globe. This will take time and good fortune and nothing is confirmed at this time. However, we do hope to create this path over the next 12 months or so and expect to launch it late in 2008 or in early 2009, and hope to include some of you “the Fluge Friends List” to work towards this end in various ways and at different times.

The FGA website will be under construction soon, but don’t be surprised if later this year it emerges with fresh ideas for more journeys that will then include the “Human Adventure”. Thank you all for the tremendous support and friendship this last year and I look forward to seeing you and to perhaps working with you again in the future.

Sincerely, Nick

FGA Team Ponders Kili Successes, Prepares for Everest, Loch Ness, the Grampian Whisky Trail, and the French Alps

Some of you have been asking for some pics of the FGA climbers on Kili - the first few are at the bottom of this article - you'll have to see the rest on the final documentary version of the FGA 07 adventures in their entirety (scheduled for early next year).

The FGA climb team Carter, King, Shelton and Fluge are looking at splitting up to achieve a couple of final 07 adventures (to fill that documentary) still as part of a unified FGA!

Preparation is still moving ahead for the Everest Trek (with our good friends at Alpine Ascents). We have added a journey to northern Scotland in October to do initial ground work for a possible 08 "Mission to Find the Loch Ness Monster". During those few fall days we'll also mountain bike the "Grampian Malt Whisky Trail" and represent FGA at 8 Scottish distilleries. Finally, after a brief stay in Paris we'll move to the south of France and do a little climbing in the French Alps.

We may have to flip a coin to see which 2 person group takes on which challenge - or…we might just see who prefers the wonderful Nepal culture to the malt whiskys of Scotland (the tastings might help us envision the Loch Ness Monster).

Anyway in the weeks to come our site may be down for maintenance for a while as we prepare for a new look and theme in 2008. Hope you are thinking of us as we explore both Europe and Asia in October - it will be a busy month. We look forward to bringing you more unique adventures in 2008.
