The Sports Car Club of America

Sports Car Club of America holds road races throughout the year in tracks ranging from Sears Point in California to Sebring in Florida. The SCCA is a 60,000 member not-for-profit organization featuring the most active membership participation organization in motorsports today, with over 2,000 amateur and professional motor sports events each year.

Fluge’s home track is Portland International Raceway in Portland Oregon. He expects to participate in races held once a month beginning in early March, 2007, and extending into the summer of 2007. The course is just under 2 miles in length and houses left and right hand turns and straight-aways that allow him to achieve a variety of race speeds.

A World-Class Tournament

The “Series” is a number of events (over 50) that include single day to multi day tournaments and run from June through July. They are held at the RIO in Las Vegas. Last year Fluge participated in the “Main Event” that drew in excess of 8000 players. Fluge finished his first 15 hours of play with over 15,000 chips - outlasting 6000 players including past champions Phil Helmuth and Doyle Brunson as well as celebrities like Toby McGuire and Jennifer Tilly. He had to attend a corporate board meeting so left while ’still in the game’. His blinds and ante’s slowly sank to zero while in abstentia. He vows to return and play in various of the “Series” events.

Kilimanjaro Summit

Fluge began training for his 2007 mountaineering adventures in late 2006. He had a long, long way to go. Now, with 4 months before the Kilamanjaro Summit, he sees light at the end of the tunnel. Fluge will be climbing with his trainers Yelena King and Troy Carter. Kilimanjaro lies over 19,000 feet above the Tanzanian plains in Africa and a summit even with the help of Alpine Ascents will not be easy.

Everest Base Camp

October 6-28, 2007

The second of the “7 Summits”, Mount Everest is the highest point on earth at over 29,000 feet. While Fluge will summit Kilamanjaro in August, his adventure into the Himalayas in October, 2007, will be focused on a Trek to Everest Base Camp at over 17,000 feet (higher than any point in the American Rocky Mountains).
